Exciting Developments at the Mikyo Dorje Institute: A Vision Becoming Reality
We are thrilled to share an inspiring update on the progress of the Mikyo Dorje Institute, a beacon of wisdom and compassion in the heart of Shropshire. The journey towards establishing a sanctuary for learning, meditation and community is taking a significant step forward, with Haughton Farm emerging as the favoured site for this transformative project.
Haughton Farm, with its rolling fields, historic buildings, and tranquil environment, embodies the perfect setting for the Mikyo Dorje Institute. Nestled in the picturesque Shropshire countryside, this site offers a serene and inspiring backdrop for our mission to provide the right conditions for the ongoing transmission of the dharma.
The Vision Taking Shape
The acquisition, renovation and initial running costs of establishing the Institute at Haughton Farm are estimated at £2,000,000. This investment will begin the transformation of the farm into a vibrant centre for learning, reflection and community involvement.
Our plans include:
Undertaking due diligence and site acquisition: Commissioning land agents and other professionals to evaluate the site, complete surveys and provide guidance on planning.
Renovating Historic Structures: Preserving the charm and heritage of Haughton farm while equipping it with modern amenities to support our programs.
Creating Learning Spaces: Establishing meditation rooms, and retreat facilities where knowledge can flourish, and minds expand.
Cultivating Gardens and Trails: Developing beautiful gardens and walking trails that invite reflection and connection with nature.
Building Sustainable Infrastructure: Implementing eco-friendly technologies to ensure the Institute operates harmoniously with the environment.
The amount of money pledged, and cash donated by students of Lama Jampa currently stands at £612,491.00. This is an excellent start and reflects the commitment, within Dechen, to build the Mikyo Dorje Institute in fulfilment of Rinpoche’s vision.

It is a testament to what can be achieved when visionaries, such as Rinpoche and Lama Jampa come together with a shared purpose, to sustain the dharma for future generations. Each room renovated, each garden planted, and each space opened will be a result of the collective effort and dedication of individuals who have confidence in the dharma’s transformative power.
