Warmest greetings from the Mikyo Dorje Institute project team!

Inspiration

At this summer’s retreat in France, Lama Jampa reminded us of the huge potential that exists within our community.
In his inspiring talk, he again set out Rinpoche’s vision for the Mikyo Dorje Institute and explained how important this is for the development of dharma in the West.
He pointed to the success of Changlochen as an example of what can be accomplished when we raise our aspirations and strive towards the realisation of a vision.
Lama Jampa stressed the need to be bold, fearless and confident as we work to turn the Mikyo Dorje Institute into reality.

Current activity

The project team is currently focusing on three main areas:

  • Engagement

  • Land search

  • Communication

Engagement

On the advice of an expert fundraiser, we are speaking individually to members of the Dechen community.  The aim is to share the vision, listen to ideas and generate enthusiasm.

The response so far has been extremely positive.  Some individuals have pledged sums of money or made donation whilst others are thinking of how they might give. Many people have offered their time, energy, and skills to help the project.

If you have not yet been contacted, but would like to discuss the project or ask any questions, do get in touch with us at info@mikyodorje.institute

Land search

We are actively searching for suitable land in Staffordshire.  We have retained a local property consultancy to assist us with this.  They are also advising us with matters relating to planning and local authority support (which will be influential on the direction of the project).

Land in the area ranges from £200,000 for 20 acres to £2,000,000 for land with buildings / barns etc.

The aim is to select a shortlist of suitable sites within the next six months.

Communications

A brand new Mikyo Dorje Institute website will be launched in November.  This will contain lots of resources, including several short films of Lama Jampa, explaining and expanding on the significance of the project in more detail.

We will send out newsletters updating you on the project’s progress, on a regular basis.

What can you do to help?

We would like you to embrace the Mikyo Dorje Institute project and take it to your heart!

Please offer whatever you can.  Of course, we need financial donations, but we also need:

  • Skills

  • Knowledge

  • Ideas

  • Energy
This is a wonderful opportunity to accumulate merit by working for our precious Lamas.  Let us all work together to help them build the Mikyo Dorje Institute and establish the dharma even more firmly in England!
    With best wishes,
    The Trustees
    Kagyu Dechen Buddhism
